Tetrasplitcairos – The Pieces
Tetrasplitcairos – a Puzzle based on a Quadrilateral
The Tetrasplitcairos belong to the family of Polysplitcairos. Their base shape is the Monosplitcairo – a quadrilateral with two opposite right angles, obtained by bisecting a Monocairo. Four Monosplitcairos can be assembled to form a square.
Each of the 14 Tetrasplitcairos is composed of four Monosplitcairos and fits seamlessly into the grid shown.
There exist: 3 Displitcairos, 6 Trisplitcairos, 22 Tetrasplitcairos, 63 Pentasplitcairos, 224 Hexasplitcairos, and 760 Heptasplitcairos.

Tetrasplitcairo – Shapes and Symmetries
Shapes constructed from all 22 Tetrasplitcairos cover an area of 88 Monosplitcairos. Only a few symmetric shapes are known that use the full set of pieces. These shapes are very similar to one another and each exhibits only a single line of reflection.
For the 3D-printed puzzles, alternative shapes were therefore selected: a cross made from 21 pieces, as well as three squares composed of 16, 9, and 4 pieces respectively. These shapes feature four axes of reflection and four-fold rotational symmetry.
The puzzle was created with the assistance of the PolySolver program.
