L4 – The Game Pieces
In the 2-dimensional version, one piece of the L4 game consists of three connected squares, and six pieces are composed of four squares each. In this version, the L4 pieces belong to the family of polyominoes.

In the 3-dimensional version, cubes are used as the basic units for constructing the pieces instead of squares. In this version, the L4 pieces belong to the family of polycubes.

The L4-Puzzle
The L4 puzzle is a variant of the well-known Soma cube. In this version, all “genuinely three-dimensional” Soma pieces have been replaced by the L-shaped piece. With this new set, you can assemble not only a 3×3×3 cube but also many other three-dimensional shapes.
Since all pieces are flat, the puzzle can also be played in two dimensions. In this variant, a set of pieces can easily be made from cardboard, and the shapes can be assembled directly on printed templates.
