Prism – The Pieces

Polyiamond prisms are shapes constructed from regular triangular prisms (see also Wikipedia). Such a prism is formed by extruding an equilateral triangle.

The puzzle’s pieces belong to the family of polyprisms. Each of the 12 pieces is composed of 6 regular triangular prisms.

Prism-Puzzle

The Prisma puzzle is a variation of the Bermuda puzzle by Bill Cutler. The shape, type, and number of pieces are identical: both puzzles consist of 12 pieces, each built from 6 regular triangular prisms.

In the Prisma puzzle, however, the set of triangular prisms is chosen so that all pieces can be printed without support material. In addition, this version offers four different solutions, whereas the Bermuda puzzle has only one.

The solutions were computed using the program Burr Tools. The Bermuda puzzle is included among the program’s example files.
